우연히 시각장애인도서관의 도서 입력 봉사를 알게 되었습니다. 그리고 놀랐습니다. 한 권의 책이 시각장애인에게 전달되기까지 필요한 시간, 그리고 한 권의 책을 읽기 위해 감수해야 하는 시간들. 표지의 저자 얼굴을 글로 묘사하면서 든 생각 — 동화책의 그림들은 어떻게 전달될까?

글자가 아니라, 시각 언어로 담긴 의미들. 그것은 단순히 "글자를 점자로 바꾸는" 문제가 아니었습니다.

"How do visually impaired people read picture books?"

I came across a volunteer opportunity at a library for the visually impaired. And I was stunned. The time it takes for a single book to reach a visually impaired reader — and the time they must endure just to read one. While describing the author's face on the cover in words, a thought struck me: how are the illustrations in picture books conveyed?

Meanings carried not in letters, but in visual language. This was not simply a matter of "converting text to braille."

그림, 색, 그래픽, 구도는 시각 채널에 존재합니다. 하지만 그 안에 담긴 의미는 시각에만 속하지 않습니다. 그렇다면 보이지 않는 사람도 '볼' 수 있지 않을까요?

누구나 자신의 속도로 정보를 다룰 수 있도록. Information Architecture의 관점으로 이 문제를 풀어갑니다.

Illustrations, colors, graphics, and composition exist in the visual channel. But the meaning within them does not belong to vision alone. Then couldn't someone who doesn't see still 'see'?

So that anyone can engage with information at their own pace. I approach this problem through the lens of Information Architecture.
